With over 216 km of coastline and over 120 beaches, Menorca has long been a popular beach holiday destination but for those looking for a bit more action than simply soaking up the sun, there is a wide choice of water-based activities to choose from.
BOAT CHARTER
It is not as expensive as you might think to hire your own sail or motor yacht for a day or even several days. If you don't hold the required yachting qualifications, skippers are available. What better way to explore Menorcas's secluded coves and bays with the family or a group of friends? The weather conditions on any given day will usually determine the itinerary.
BOAT TRIPS
Several larger motor boats offer organised trips ranging from one hour tours of Mao harbour to half and full day trips along the coast departing from either Mao or Ciutadella. Many of these boats are also available to charter for private trips.
KAYAKS - CANOEING
Kayaks are the perfect means of transport if you want to explore sobe of the hidden coves and beaches that have no road access. Not only will it keep you fit, it also has no negative environmental impact.
WATER-SKIING
Water skiing and wakeboarding are exhilarating activities once you know the basics. Unless you have a boat and equipment of your own you will need to go to a sports centre offering instruction. Water skiing is available in the protected bays at fornells and Son Xoriguer.
