Menorca is usually thought of as a summer destination but tourists increasingly visit during the spring and autumn when the weather is cooler and the island less crowded. There is plenty to see and do away from the beach and Menorca has an active sporting community with a full range of land-based sports that visitors are welcome to take part in or attend as spectators.
GOLF
Although not a golfing destination, Menorca does have one 18-hole golf course set a few hundreds metres back from the beach at Son Parc. The extension of the Dave Thomas-designed course was completed in 2006 and includes a driving range, golf school, practice ground and a resident peacock colony! Several resorts in the Ciutadella region and Punta Prima in the south east offer mini golf and/or crazy golf.
CRICKET
Established 24 years ago by a group of keen cricketers living on the island, the Menorca Cricket Club continues to go from strength to strength. A typically British cricket ground in the heart of the Menorca countryside and equipped with bar, the MCC enjoys a longer season (April-November, spectators welcome- www.menorcacricketclub.com) than its UK counterparts and hosts matches every Wednesday and Saturday in high season. These games are for visitors to watch or take part (by prior arrangements).
