Es Migjorn Gran
Menorca’s smallest and newest municipal district (formerly under the jurisdiction of Es Mercadal) covers picturesque countryside as well as arguably some of the best virgin beaches the island has to offer. The small, immaculately kept town of Es Migjorn, with its collection of whitewashed houses spilling down the hillside, retains a sense of authentic rural life unchanged for generations. Indeed, the residents keep ancient tradition alive here: one in particular penned an anthology of Menorcan legends and at weekends villagers take part in all sorts of popular events, the village band is famed throughout the island and many artists have also made their home here.
